Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Meets German Federal Foreign Minister

On February 17, 2024, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany Ms. Annalena Baerbock, on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference 2024, which is being held in Munich, Germany from 16 to 18 February.

During the meeting, they discussed the Iraqi-German bilateral relations and ways to promote them, especially in the areas of security cooperation, economic and energy. His Excellency Minister Hussein, also praised the German stances in regard to Iraq. Both Ministers also touched on international and regional issues, especially the war on Gaza, and the destruction and difficult humanitarian situation it caused, Minister Hussein emphasized the necessity of achieving a comprehensive ceasefire.

They also discussed the support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees UNRWA, in addition to the need for increasing humanitarian aid in a way that contributes to alleviating the burdens on the Palestinian people.
