Iraq’s Permanent Representative to United Nations Organizations in Rome Participates in 47th Session of the Council of Governors of IFAD
The Permanent Representative of the Republic of Iraq to the United Nations organizations in Rome, Ambassador Siwan Barzani, participated on February 14, 2024, in the 47th session of the Board of Governors of the United Nations International Fund for Agricultural Development IFAD. Ambassador Barzani, held meetings with a number of Ambassadors and delegations on the sidelines of the event, to discuss the situation of the International Fund for Agricultural Development, and ways to promote cooperation at the international and regional levels, as well coordinating on the outcomes of the meeting, to serve the interest of member states in advancing the agricultural sector.
Ambassador Barzani, discussed several topics with senior officials and the concerned persons in the field of development and innovation, including how to enable and support the fund for the purpose of finding urgent solutions to the challenges facing the world, as well as the difficulties faced by the agricultural sector due to climate change and the escalation of conflicts and crises, and how to invent new ways to finance the fund by establishing partnerships with institutions, and international banks, in addition to activating the role of the private sector and companies concerned with agriculture and development, as well as the best use of clean energy, the responsible use of artificial intelligence, and the application of modern technologies in studying soil and extreme climate changes.
