Undersecretary for Bilateral Relations Receives Malaysian Chargé d’Affaires in Baghdad
Undersecretary for Bilateral Relations Ambassador Muhammad Hussein Muhammad Bahr Al-Ulum received the Chargé d’Affairs ad interim at the Malaysian Embassy in Baghdad Mr. Muhammad Shahir Sabir Al-Din, at the Ministry’s headquarters, during the meeting, they discussed ways of enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation on issues of common interest, especially after the reopening of the Malaysian embassy in Baghdad which shut down in 2003. In addition to, they indicated the willingness of the governments of the two countries to develop relations, expand the horizon of cooperation in all fields and encourage Malaysian companies to invest in Iraq in light of the prevailing security.
The Undersecretary, stressed the necessity of holding the meetings of the ninth session of the Iraqi-Malaysian Joint Commission as soon as possible and cooperate at the level of international organizations and exchange nominations, as well as they agreed on signing a number of agreements and memorandums of understanding in several fields, in addition to they discussed the turn of events in the war on Gaza and what the Palestinian people are facing.
Mr. Bahr Al-Ulum, expressed his appreciation for Malaysia’s firm and supportive stance on the Palestinian issue, especially since Malaysian Foreign Minister Mohammad Hasan had announced that his country will present on February 22, 2024, an oral submission at the International Court of Justice regarding the atrocities of the Zionist occupation against the Palestinian people, and he would be representing the country on the matter.
