The Joint Iraqi-Tunisian Committee Holds its 16th Session in Tunis
The Iraqi-Tunisian Joint Committee held its meeting in Tunis under the chairmanship of Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim from the Iraqi side, while the Tunisian side was headed by Foreign Minister Mr. Khemaies Jhinaoui
The two sides expressed their keenness to expand the base of joint cooperation between Baghdad and Tunisia in various fields, especially in the fields of politics, security, economy, culture, industry, agriculture, tourism, transport and banking sector, in addition to activating the signed memorandums of understanding in a systematic manner.
The meeting also discussed the development of cooperation on issues of common concern, activating the paths of a peaceful solution in the Arab countries that are experiencing security and political crises, as well as coordinating positions in international forums, and supporting Tunisia as a member of the UN Security Council.
The Foreign Ministers of the two countries signed a number of memorandums of understanding on security cooperation, political consultations, in addition to two memorandums of understanding pertaining to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, a transport agreement, and a memorandum of understanding on facilitating the granting of entry visas to businessmen from both countries, and signing the minutes of the 16th session of the Joint Committee.
The two sides agreed that the next meeting would be held in Baghdad.
