Chargé d’Affaires ad Interim of the Republic of Iraq in Baku Discusses with Azerbaijani Minister of Communications Lifting of Travel Restrictions on Iraqi Citizens and Operation of flights

On 25/10/2022, Chargé d’Affairs ad Interim of the Republic of Iraq in Baku Makki Raysan Al-Maamouri met with Mr Rashad Nabiyev, Minister of Communications, Transport and Higher Technology, Head of the Azerbaijani side of the Iraqi-Azerbaijani Joint Committee, , at the headquarters of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Communications. The two sides discussed ways of developing the bilateral relations between the Republic of Iraq and the Republic of Azerbaijan, and increasing the joint cooperation.

The Chargé d’Affaires emphasized the need to lift the travel restrictions on Iraqi citizens and the commencement of regular flights between the two countries. He also submitted an official note in this regard.

The two sides also discussed the implementation of the terms of the minutes of the meeting of the second session of the joint committee between the two countries, signed in 2021, urging the Azerbaijani sectoral bodies to do so.

On his part, the Minister of Communications confirmed that he will personally follow up the file with the competent Azerbaijani authorities to meet the embassy’s request to lift travel restrictions on Iraqis and operate flights.
