Minister of Foreign Affairs Receives Russian Ambassador to Iraq
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Fuad Hussein, has received the Russian Ambassador to Iraq, Mr Elbrus Kutrashev.
The Minister confirmed that Iraq had suffered greatly from the scourge of wars, and accordingly, Iraq is in principle against wars and the policy of imposing an economic embargo because it targets peoples, and that the continuation of the war in Ukraine will lead to more crises in various fields, particularly the crises of security threat, energy and the economy, including inflation and threat to food security, and the impact thereof on consuming societies and non-oil countries, noting that Iraq, through the Arab Contact Group, under the umbrella of the Arab League, had called for a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, and to begin peaceful negotiations between the sides.
On his part, the Russian ambassador congratulated the Minister on the occasion of the election of the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister’ designate to form a new government that meets the aspirations of the Iraqi people for progress and prosperity.
