The visiting delegation was received by the Deputy Governor of Dhi Qar, Mr. Rafe’ Al-Shami, and a large number of officials in the governorate.
During the visit, a celebration was organized and speeches were delivered in which the speakers emphasized the importance of spreading the spirit of tolerance and coexistence between the heavenly religions and the different sects and to work in the spirit of the lofty values and teachings of those religions that made the human being its main focus, and to stay away from the rhetoric of hate and violence and to emphasize peaceful coexistence among peoples.
The attendees recalled the historic visit made by His Holiness Pope Francis to the city of Ur, and his prayers and supplications for Iraq for security, safety and prosperity.
The delegation visited the historical sites in the city of Ur, including the shrine of the Prophet Abraham, peace be upon him, and the great symbolism it represented in the souls of Muslims, Christians and other religions, and the archaeological ziggurat with its connotations and religious awareness that distinguished the inhabitants of Mesopotamia from the dawn of history.
