Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign affairs Minister Fouad Hussein affirmed Iraq’s keenness to strengthen relations with Kuwait on the basis of mutual respect, in a manner that serves the common interests between the two brotherly peoples. This came during his meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait, Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, on Friday, October 28, 2022, on the sidelines of his participation in the preparatory foreign ministers meeting for the Council of the League of Arab States at the summit level in its 31st session, which is taking place in Algeria. During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations between Baghdad and Kuwait and ways to develop them, stressing the need to deepen them to achieve the interests of the two peoples. The two ministers touched on the regional and international situation, developments in the region, coordination between Iraq and the Gulf States on international issues, and the developments of the Russian-Ukrainian war, and its repercussions on international relations and the global economy. The two sides stressed the importance of adopting the principle of constructive dialogue to resolve all outstanding issues between the two brotherly countries. For his part, the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister congratulated the Minister on the occasion of the formation of the new government, and the renewal of confidence in him as Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq, stressing his country’s desire to develop bilateral relations and consolidate joint cooperation in a way that achieves prosperity and prosperity for the Iraqi and Kuwaiti peoples, expressing the support of the State of Kuwait and the people of Iraq to the government of Iraq. Stressing that the stability of Iraq on the security and political levels is the stability of the State of Kuwait.
