Minister of Foreign Affairs discusses with His Saudi Counterpart the Bilateral Issues
On 11/5/2022, Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein discussed with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, the bilateral cooperation between Baghdad and Riyadh on various fields, and the importance of prior coordination at the regional and international levels.
This came within the framework of the Minister’s participation in the ministerial meeting of the International Coalition to Combat ISIS, which is being held in Marrakesh, Kingdom of Morocco.
They exchanged views and assessment on the overall developments of the regional and international issues of common concern, addressing the various challenges which affect the region, and advancing peaceful solutions that would realise security and stability, and advance the cooperation to realise the aspirations for peace and development.
Mr Fuad Hussein affirmed that the Iraqi government will make every effort and invest all its relations in order to create a suitable opportunity for understandings between Tehran and Riyadh.
The two ministers touched upon an improvement in the bilateral relations between Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Iran in certain areas. The two sides confirmed the need to continue the discussions that began in Baghdad.
On his part, Prince Faisal bin Farhan affirmed the Kingdom’s keenness to develop the bilateral relations and upgrade them to meet the aspirations of the two brotherly countries, wishing Iraq and its people progress and prosperity.
