Head of the Department of International Organisations and Conferences Meets Georgian Ambassador accredited to Iraq
On 9/5/2022, the head of the Department of International Organisations and Conferences, Dr Abbas Kadhum Obaid, at the Ministry’s headquarters, met Ambassador of the Republic of Georgia accredited to Iraq residing in Amman, Mr Zaza Kandelaki. During the meeting, they discussed some current issues of common interest in international and regional organisations.
The head of the Department of International Organisations affirmed Iraq’s principled position on these international issues, which it derives from its constitution, and Iraq is keen on building its international relations in accordance with these principles, and seeks to resolve all disputes and crises by peaceful means.
The two sides confirmed the importance of coordinating positions and mutual support between the two countries in nominations for international positions, and the importance of exchanging visits between officials of the two countries in a manner that serves their interests and the consolidation of the bilateral relations.
The Head of the Department referred to the importance of opening the Georgian Embassy in Baghdad to realise these goals and to provide consular services, both for Iraqi students who want to complete their studies in Georgia, as well as for Georgian nationals working in Iraq.
