Joint Statement of Foreign Ministers Meeting of the Republic of Iraq, Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and Arab Republic of Egypt
A tripartite meeting was held in Baghdad on 4 August 2019 and included Foreign Minister of the Republic of Iraq, Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim , the Foreign Minister of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Mr. Sameh Shukri, and the Foreign Minister of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Mr. Ayman Al-Safadi to develop cooperation among the three countries in different fields in implementation of the decisions of the Tripartite Summit held in Cairo on 24 March 2019 between the King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, His Majesty King Abdullah II, the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Mr. Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, and Iraq’s Prime Minister Mr. Adel Abdul-Mahdi; to discuss ways of cooperation, coordination and integration among the three countries.
The Ministers discussed the development of relations between the three countries and the need to invest them in the political, economic, cultural and social fields to serve their interests.
The meetings of the Ministers of the three countries concerned with energy, industry, trade and housing stressed on holding of the meetings in Baghdad at the earliest opportunity to promote integration, economic cooperation, the development of common industrial zones, cooperation in the energy sectors, infrastructure, reconstruction, housing projects, increase trade exchange, promote joint investment, and develop cultural cooperation relations.
The Ministers agreed to hold meetings of the Working Group concerned with the follow-up of the Tripartite Summit and to coordinate economic, development, political, security and cultural cooperation and to designate national focal points for this purpose in the three countries.
The Ministers stressed cooperation in the fight against terrorism in all its forms, drying up its sources of funding, eliminating its media outlets and safe havens, and supporting Iraq’s efforts to eliminate the remnants of Da’esh terrorist gangs to achieve a safe and stable environment that contributes to the return of all displaced people to their cities of origin.
They also agreed to organize workshops for businessmen and investors from the three countries on the sidelines of sectoral ministerial meetings.
The Ministers stressed the importance of coordinating positions in international and regional forums to meet the challenges facing the Arab countries and the region and the importance of playing a positive role in easing tensions and resolving crises.
The Munisters reviewed the developments related to the Palestinian issue and stressed its centrality and the need to exert efforts to achieve comprehensive peace that meets all the legitimate rights of the brotherly Palestinian people, especially their right to freedom and the establishment of an independent state on their national soil in accordance with the resolutions of international legitimacy.
The Ministers discussed the Syrian crisis and stressed the necessity of activating the Arab role, stressing the need to end the crisis and reach a political solution agreed upon by the Syrians that preserves the territorial integrity of Syria and reinforces its security and stability and achieves national reconciliation and supports the voluntary return of refugees.
The Ministers discussed the escalation in the region and stressed the need to intensify efforts to reduce the escalation in the Gulf through dialogue, build regional relations based on the principles of good neighborliness, and non-interference in the internal affairs of States.
The Ministers agreed to hold periodic meetings and agreed that the next meeting would be held in Amman the capital of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
