Foreign Minister Meets His Iranian Counterpart in Munich and Affirms Iraq’s Endeavour to Establish Direct Regional Dialogues That Bring Together the Countries of the region

 Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein has met his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir Abdollahian on the sidelines of the 58th Munich Security Conference, held in Munich, Germany.

The two sides discussed the distinguished relations between the two neighbouring countries, files of common interest, and they reviewed the most important regional and international developments. They also touched upon the current negotiations in Vienna on the Iranian nuclear programmes and diplomatic efforts to make them a success.

Minister Fuad Hussein touched on Iraq’s endeavours to establish direct regional dialogues that bring together the countries of the region, convergence of views and enhance the ties of friendship and cordiality between them, stressing Iraq’s openness to all regional countries, and cooperation with them to achieve stability and development in the region.

On his part, the Iranian Foreign Minister commended the distinguished relations between Iraq and Iran, referring to the historical, religious and geographic ties that connect the two countries, appreciating Iraq’s pivotal role in the rapprochement of the views of the countries of the region, and its ongoing endeavours to create regional dialogues.
