Head of the Department of Human Rights Meets the Special Representative of the Secretary-General, Head of the United Nations Mission in Iraq (UNAMI)

Ambassador Dr Hisham Al-Alawi, Head of the Department of Human Rights, has met Ms Jeanine Plasschaert, Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), and Ms Danielle Bell, Director of the Human Rights Office at UNAMI.

The two sides discussed a number of issues of common importance towards the protection and enhancement of human rights, the importance of urging work according to practical steps in order to increase the level of coordination between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the UNAMI and the concerned Iraqi authorities, as also agreed to hold regular meetings between the two sides, highlighting on discussing ways to support Iraq’s efforts to achieve the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
