Senior Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Receives British Ambassador to Iraq
On 31/01/2022, The Senior Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr Nizar Al-Khairallah, received the British Ambassador to Iraq, Mr Mark Bryson Richardson.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Undersecretary touched on the developments of the political process in Iraq and the efforts to form the new Iraqi government and stated that despite the difficulties which facing this process, the Iraqi political parties make significant progress in this field.
During the meeting, they also discussed aspects related to the development of the bilateral cooperation between Iraq and the United Kingdom in areas of common interest between the two countries, especially those related to the economic and energy fields, affirming the importance of improving the level of these relations to suit the desire of the two countries and the level of available possibilities that both sides have.
On his part, the British Ambassador confirmed the keenness of his country’s government to enhance cooperation with Iraq and support the political and democratic process in the country. They also discussed other aspects of developing cooperation, especially with regard to signing the proposed draft agreements related to the development of the bilateral cooperation and the importance of completing their procedures to sign them as soon as possible.
