Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein confirms that all necessary preparations for holding elections have been completed on schedule, and that they will be strong foundation for building future of political and democratic process in Iraq
This came during his meeting with the Swedish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Ann Linde, at his residence in New York, on the sidelines of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Mr. Hussein affirmed that all the necessary preparations to hold the elections on schedule have been completed, stressing that they will be a strong pillar for building the future of the political and democratic process in Iraq, appreciating the efforts of regional and international organizations, including the European Union, which will send a mission to monitor the elections and ensure their transparency.
For her part, Mrs. Linde, praised the progress and development of bilateral relations between the two countries, expressing her hope that this development would continue to include all sectors.
She also appreciated the efforts made by Iraq in holding Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership and its outputs, which will positively affect security and stability in the region.
At the end of the meeting, Mr. Hussein expressed his gratitude to the Government of Sweden for the assistance and support it provided to Iraq, looking forward to the Swedish companies’ contribution to investment in Iraq in the fields of energy and infrastructure restoration.
