Head of Department of International Organizations and Conferences Meets with Chief of IOM Mission in Baghdad

Dr. Abbas Kadhim Obaid, the head of Department of International Organizations and Conferences has met with Gerard Carl Whaite, the chief of the International Organization for Migration IOM Mission in Baghdad on 5/7/2021 at the Ministry’s headquarters on the occasion of the end of his duties in Iraq.

Mr. Whaite expressed his gratitude to the Iraqi government for its high confedense in the IOM and to the Foreign Ministry for its interest, support and hurdle tackling that helped him perform his duties in Iraq, particularly the cooperation on the sticking and sensitve issues. He also referred to the importance of Iraq’s accession to the membership of IOM. And he introduced his deputy Othman Belesi who will succeed him as interm chief of the Mission of IOM in Baghdad.

On his part, the head of Department of International Organizations and Conferences presented his thanks to the IOM for its efforts in supporting the infrastructure and various projects in Iraq such as the internally displaced people IDPs and the liberated cities renewing his willingness to provide the facilities and support to the IOM Mission in Baghdad in order to implement the projects of mutual interest for Iraq and the IOM and help reach common understandings on the outstanding issues.
