Ambassador of Iraq in Vienna participates in symposium on labor market and investment opportunities in Iraq
On 18 March 2021, the Austrian Chamber of Commerce in Vienna held on an online economic seminar for Austrian companies and investors under entitle “The Future of Iraq” in cooperation with the Austrian Embassy, the Commercial Attaché in Amman, and the Iraqi Embassy in Vienna, with the aim of encouraging Austrian companies and investors to enter into the Iraqi commercial market. The symposium was attended by more than fifty Austrian companies and businessmen in various disciplines.
It began with a speech presented by Ambassador of Iraq H.E. Mr. Bakr Fattah, in which he expressed his appreciation for the efforts made by the Austrian Chamber of Commerce in organizing this important meeting, praising the interest of Austrian companies in attending the symposium to invest in the Iraqi market, referring at the same time to the visit of His Holiness, the Pope Francis to Iraq for the period 5-8 March 2021, signifying that it was not only a call to enhance interfaith dialogue, but also a clear indication of the stability of the security situation in Iraq, and that the investment environment in Iraq is safe again, and entering the labor market in Iraq is no longer a challenge.
In the opening speech, Ambassador Fattah also called on Austrian companies and investors to enter the Iraqi market, stressing that the reform program of the Iraqi government aims at encouraging investment in the private sector, and despite the challenges, there are many opportunities for Austrian companies to participate, and that the doors of the Iraqi embassy in Vienna are open for representatives of companies and investors to hold meetings, dialogues and seminars that would overcome obstacles, provide advice and all possible facilitations that would help Austrian companies and investors to enter the labor market for reconstruction in Iraq.
The symposium also hosted a number of representatives of foreign companies currently operating in Iraq, who, according to their experience in Iraq, gave a presentation to Austrian companies and investors on the mechanism of work and investment in the Iraqi market at the present time with a vision of the work possibilities available in the future.
