The Deputy Head of European Department Meets with Head of Cooperation Department of European Union Mission in Iraq

The Deputy Head of Europe Department, Mr. Wissam Walid Al-Qaisi, and Mr. Ahmed Abed Ali Abbas, Director of the European Union Department, met with Ms. Barbara Iger, the Head of the Cooperation Department of the European Union Mission in Iraq, accompanied by Ms. Raghda Hamid, the project officer.

The meeting discussed issues related to the development of support projects implemented by the European Union in Iraq for the year 2020, in terms of their nature, the funds allocated to them, which amounted to (163.75) million Euros for the year 2020, the entities benefiting from them, and the entities implementing them, which included the fields of employment , economy, governance, human rights, investing in the environment, and recovering from the pandemic), which are implemented and followed up by several parties.

The meeting also dealt with the European Union initiative known as (COVAC) in response to the challenges of Covid-19, and to ensure fair access to a vaccine, and the possibility of Iraq joining this initiative to benefit from the assistance provided by this initiative.

On her part, Mrs. Barbara expressed her thanks, appreciation to hold this fruitful meeting, and expressed her hope to maintain communication between the two sides on related issues.
