Foreign Minister Affirms that China is an Important Partner for Iraq in Reconstruction
Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein met with the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Iraq Mr. Zhang Tao.
The two sides discussed ways to increase the prospects of the historical and strategic bilateral relations between Baghdad and Beijing.
Minister Fuad Hussein considered that China is an important partner in the reconstruction process, noting the importance of expanding the scope of bilateral cooperation in the field of reconstruction of infrastructure in areas liberated from the hold of terrorism.
Minister Fuad Hussein expressed his thanks and appreciation for the support presented by People’s Republic of China to Iraq, especially the medical supplies that were sent recently to the Ministry of Health following the outbreak of the Coronavirus in many countries of the world.
On his part, the Chinese Ambassador, Mr. Zhang Tao, stressed his government’s interest in strengthening relations with Baghdad, and its keenness to distance Iraq from being an arena for external conflicts.
The Ambassador conveyed a letter of congratulations to Minister Fuad Hussein addressed by his Chinese counterpart, which included an invitation to visit Beijing in the framework of strengthening relations between the two countries, and called for the importance of providing more support and enhancing the security of Chinese companies operating in Iraq.
Minister Fuad Hussein promised to accept the invitation to visit China when the time permits.
