Iraq’s Ambassador to Ottawa and Chargé d’affairs at Consulate General in Montreal Participate in Virtual Meeting Organised by Peace Society in Toronto
The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Ottawa Mr. Wadee Batti Hanna, and the Chargé d’affairs at the General Consulate in Montreal Ms. Agadir Al-Naqib, participated in the virtual meeting organized by the Peace Society in Toronto, with the participation of a number of civil society institutions, media outlets and Iraqi personalities.
The meeting addressed a number of issues of concern to the Iraqi community, especially in these times when many countries in the world, including Canada, witnessed the outbreak of the Coronavirus, and the infection of a number of community members, in addition to those stranded in Canada that are (14).
The Ambassador indicated that there are efforts being made to transfer our stranded citizens, confirming the embassy’s continued provision of all services via e-mail and the embassy’s hotline numbers.
On her part, the Chargé d’affaires in Montreal called for the importance of coordination and cooperation with the Canadian side in the area of receiving and distributing aid to the infected and the medical staff.
The Iraqi community residing in Canada has demonstrated solidarity in providing assistance and expertise to Canadian institutions.
The meeting concluded that a weekly meeting should be held to discuss the developments of the Iraqi community’s situation.
