Foreign Minister Receives Iranian Counterpart
Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim received his Iranian counterpart Mr. Mohamad Jawad Zarif. Minister Alhakim expressed his desire to work to support and strengthen relations between Baghdad and Tehran, reflecting their explicitness and strategy, stressing his keenness to strengthen bilateral cooperation in various fields in the next stage to achieve the common interests of the two countries in the light of the results of the visit by Iranian President Mr. Hassan Rowhani, to activate memorandums of understanding with the Iraqi government.
The two sides exchanged views and ideas on regional and international issues of mutual concern. They also discussed developments in the region, the challenges they face, and the need to support peace and stability through concerted efforts.
On his part, Mr. Mohammad Jawad Zarif stressed his country’s keenness to deepen relations between the two countries, expressing his thanks for Iraq’s positions aimed at advancing calmness and avoiding escalation in the region.
