Ambassador of Republic of Iraq to Kingdom of the Netherlands Receives the Executive Director of Scholarship Fund at International Council of Museums

Iraq Ambassador in the Netherlands,  Dr. Hisham Al-Alawi received in his office Dr. Björn Stenvers, Executive Director of Fonds de dotation, of  the International Council of Museums (ICOM) and President of the Dutch Eye Care Foundation.

The meeting dealt with preparations for Mr. Stenvers’ visit to Iraq next month. Ambassador Al-Alawi explained the measures taken by the Embassy and the results of contacts with officials of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities and the Iraqi Ministry of Health in order to ensure the success of the visit.  This visit comes to meet with those concerned in museums and archaeological sites in Iraq, and work to attract international expertise to ensure their improvement.

On his part Mr.  Stenvers, expressed his readiness to present his expertise in this important sector, which is an essential part of the history of Iraq and the world, pointing to the goal of the visit, which is to explore opportunities and challenges, and work to improve the status of museums and archaeological areas, as a step to long-term cooperation both on Bilateral level with the Kingdom of the Netherlands or on the international level.
