Iraq Participates in Regional Conference on International Cooperation against Terrorism and its Funding Sources in Tajikistan
Iraq participated in the regional conference of international cooperation against terrorism and its sources of funding , including drug trafficking and organized crime, which was held in Dushanbe the capital of Tajikistan in the presence of 54 countries, represented by Mr. Hazem Al-Yousifi, Foreign Ministry Undersecretary of Legal Affairs for the period 16-17 / 5/2019.
The Undersecretary delivered Iraq’s speech at the conference, in which he expressed the Iraqi government’s appreciation for the international efforts that have been made to support Iraq in the fight against terrorism and the drying up of his sources of funding and the pursuit of terrorists. Mr. Al-Yousifi pointed out that the key role in defeating Da’ash terrorist gangs was the will and sacrifices of the Iraqi people and its security and military forces and the Iraqi society that faced the gangs and advocates of terrorism.
Mr. Al-Yousifi also pointed out that this high-level conference is taking place at an important and very detailed stage and time, which is the stage after defeating the terrorist organization in Iraq, a stage that requires intensive efforts and more international cooperation in providing remedies for the devastation caused by terrorism after the liberation of Iraqi cities to ensure that those involved, supporters and financiers are prosecuted for terrorist operations, to ensure that these terrorist organizations do not emerge again, and to neutralize their threat to the international community through the exchange of information.
The Undersecretary met with the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr. Sirodjidin Muhriddin, and the Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry of Tajikistan Mr. Khusro Nazri, in which he conveyed the greetings of Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim , and reviewed the prospects of cooperation between the two countries and means of strengthening them. Mr. Muhriddin, expressed his thanks and appreciation for Iraq’s efforts in the repatriation of Tajik children.
Mr. Al-Yousifi also met with the Minister of the Interior of Tajikistan, Mr. Ramazon Rahimzoda, in which he stressed the possibility of cooperation between the two countries in the fight against terrorism and exchange of information with the possibility of concluding a memorandum of understanding in the field of combating terrorism between the two countries, and reviewed the experience of Iraq in combating Da’ash terrorist gangs and dealing with the consequences of families and children of Da’esh.
