Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein Receives Japanese Ambassador

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein met with the Japanese Ambassador to Iraq Mr. Akira Endo, at the Ministry’s headquarters on Tuesday 25 March 2025.

The Minister welcomed the Ambassador, affirming the importance of strengthening bilateral relations between Iraq and Japan across various areas, and the Iraqi government’s keenness to further advance mutual collaboration between the two countries.

On his part, Ambassador Endo underlined his country’s commitment to deepening cooperation with Iraq and supporting its efforts to achieve development.

During the meeting a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the two sides to implement a Japanese grant project provided by JICA Agency, aimed at improving the display, preservation, and restoration equipments at the Sulaymaniyah Museum.

Minister Hussein affirmed the importance of the optimal implementation of the project in coordination with relevant authorities, to ensure the achievement of the desired goals.
