Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Receives Portuguese Non-Resident Ambassador

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein received the non-resident Portuguese Ambassador to Iraq Mr. Fernando Figueirinhas, on Monday 24 March 2025.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and means to strengthen them across various areas, as well Ambassador Figueirinhas delivered a personal letter from the Portuguese Minister of Foreign Affairs to Minister Hussein.

The letter highlights Portugal’s support for the Palestinian cause, particularly in international community and in accordance with various UN resolutions, with attaching special importance on coordination and joint action between Iraq and Portugal in these forums. The letter also calls for strengthening bilateral relations, particularly in the economic and investment fields.

Minister Fuad Hussein emphasized the importance of continued coordination and consultation between the two sides, commending his meeting at the Davos Forum last January with his Portuguese counterpart, Paulo Rangel.
