Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein Chairs 10th Meeting of Ministerial Council for Economy of 2025

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein chaired the 10th meeting of the Ministerial Council for Economy on Monday 24 March 2025. The meeting was held at the Council’s headquarters with the attendance of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning, the Ministers of Finance, Trade, and Agriculture, the Governor of the Central Bank, the Chairman of the Securities Commission, the Vice Chairman of the National Investment Commission, and the Prime Minister’s Advisor for Legal Affairs. The Council discussed the items on its agenda and took the necessary decisions regarding them. 

The Council hosted the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Electricity for Production Affairs to discuss the Ministry of Electricity’s plan for next summer and the repercussions of the shortage of Iranian gas imports, in addition the Council discussed the mechanisms and measures to be taken by the Ministries of Electricity and Oil to ensure the stability and continuity of electricity supply, in light of international developments and resolutions regarding Iranian gas, and the completion of procedures related to alternative solutions to this issue, emphasizing the need to consider solar energy generation for domestic and commercial use. 

The Council also approved an increase in the total cost of the second phase of the Heart Hospital project in Kirkuk.

The Council also approved the completion of the project to build a model school with a capacity of 18 classrooms in Fallujah District in Anbar.

Based on a request submitted by the Ministry of Planning, the Council decided to increase the fees for granting the Iraqi Quality label to 5,000,000 Iraqi dinars, instead of 2,500,000 Iraqi dinars, and to increase the fees for renewing the Iraqi Quality label to 4,000,000 Iraqi dinars, instead of 2,000,000 Iraqi dinars.
