Chargé d’Affaires a.i. in Nouakchott Meets Mauritanian Minister of Fisheries, Maritime and Port Infrastructure

The Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Nouakchott Mr.  Zahim Mohamed Muslim, met with Mauritanian Minister of Fisheries, Maritime and Port Infrastructure, Mr. El Fadhil Ould Sidati, with the attendance of the Secretary General of the Ministry Mr. Mr. Sidi Ali Ould Sidi Boubacar, the meeting took place at the Ministry’s headquarters on 18 March 2025.

The two sides discussed bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries and ways to strengthen them across various areas, particularly economic cooperation in the sectors of fisheries, maritime infrastructure, and ports, in addition to the qualifying and training of personnel working in this sector.

Additionally, they discussed the possibility of preparing a draft memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of fisheries and maritime and port infrastructure between the Iraqi Ministry of Transport and its Mauritanian counterpart, in preparation for the signing on the sidelines of the meetings of the Iraqi-Mauritanian Joint Economic Committee, scheduled to be held in Baghdad during the first half of 2025.
