Iraq’s Chargé d’Affaires in Nairobi Discusses with Speaker of Kenya’s National Assembly, Strengthening Parliamentary Relations and Economic Cooperation

The Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Kenya Dr. Akram Jamil Sulaiman, visited the Speaker of the Kenyan National Assembly, Dr. Moses M. Wetang’ula, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries across various areas.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed parliamentary relations between Iraq and Kenya and ways to develop them through establishing an Iraqi-Kenyan Parliamentary friendship group and the exchange of high-level visits to strengthen parliamentary diplomacy and consolidate the principles of democratic governance. As well the discussions addressed mechanisms for consultation between the two parliaments and enhancing political participation.
Additionally, the meeting addressed cooperation between the two countries in key sectors, such as education, security, and trade, in addition to enhancing economic cooperation and exploring opportunities to open new oil markets for Iraq in East African countries, particularly Kenya.
At the end of the meeting, the Speaker of the Kenyan National Assembly thanked Chargé d’Affaires for his visit, stressing the importance of continued communication and joint work to strengthen bilateral relations. On his part, the Chargé d’Affaires expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and generous hospitality, noting Iraq’s keenness to enhance joint cooperation.
