Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Announces May 17 2025 as Date for Holding Arab Summit in Baghdad

On Thursday 6 March 2025, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein chaired the 12th meeting to prepare for the Arab Summit in Baghdad.
The meeting was attended by the Secretary General of the Council of Ministers Dr. Hamid Al Ghazi, the Mayor of Baghdad Mr. Ammar Musa Kadhom, and the Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Mr. Ahmed Nayef Rashid Al Dulaimi, along with a number of officials from the relevant sectors and ministries.
During the meeting, Minister Hussein announced that following the discussions he held in Cairo, the day of 17 May 2025, has been set as the official date for holding the Arab Summit in Baghdad, as well they reviewed the latest preparations for the summit and discussed the reports submitted by the relevant committees, which included logistical, technical and organizational preparations, in addition to discussing detailed plans to ensure the success of the event, including ceremonial procedures and security and media coordination.
Additionally, the Minister affirmed the importance of this summit which will be hosted by Baghdad, noting that Iraq is working to create all appropriate conditions to ensure its success in a way that reflects a favorable image of the country and strengthens the path of joint Arab action. As well the Minister underlined the need for coordination between the relevant authorities to ensure that the summit is organized with the highest levels of professionalism and efficiency.
On his part, the Secretary General of the Council of Ministers confirmed that efforts are continuing to overcome any obstacles that may face the preparations and indicated that the specialized committees are working around the clock to achieve the desired goals of the summit.
