Ambassador Al Barzanji Meets Jordanian Minister of Labor to Discuss Conditions of Iraqis working in Jordan

The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Mr. Omer Al Barzanji, met with the Jordanian Minister of Labor, Dr. Khalid Al Bakkar. The meeting discussed the conditions of Iraqis working in Jordan and ways to facilitate the procedures for granting work permits for medical professions, in accordance with the principle of reciprocity.

Ambassador Al Barzanji stressed Iraq’s keenness to develop bilateral relations with Jordan across all areas, including investment in various sectors. He also indicated his communication with the Iraqi Ministry of Health to develop a mechanism for granting work permits to Jordanians and to deal reciprocally with regard to Iraqis working in medical professions residing in Jordan, including doctors and pharmacists.

The meeting also discussed ways to address problems facing the Iraqi community in Jordan directly.

On his part, Minister Al Bakkar expressed his pleasure with the meeting, stressing Jordan’s keenness to enhance cooperation between the two brotherly countries, adding that he will consider the proposals submitted by the Ambassador regarding reducing work permit fees for Iraqis working in Jordan.

At the end of the meeting, the Ambassador presented a memorial shield to the Minister in recognition of his efforts.
