Undersecretary for Political Planning Receives Chinese Ambassador

Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Political Planning Ambassador Dr. Hisham Al Alawi, received the Chinese Ambassador Mr. Cui Wei, at the Ministry’s headquarters, the meeting was attended by representatives of Asia and Australia Department at the Ministry.
Undersecretary Al Alawi, welcomed the Chinese Ambassador and highlighted the profound Iraqi-Chinese relations, especially in the economic, trade and investment fields, underlining the importance of holding a new meeting of the Iraqi-Chinese Joint Committee, in addition to the 5th session of the political consultations between the two countries for their pivotal role in strengthening bilateral relations. In addition, Dr. Al Alawi expressed Iraq’s desire to twin the Iraqi Development Road Project with the Chinese Belt and Road Initiative, given their importance in strengthening the strategic association that serves the common interests of the two countries.
On his part, the Chinese Ambassador commended the development of the Iraq-China relations across various levels, noting the readiness of the Chinese Foreign Ministry to organize two training courses for the Iraqi diplomatic staff, both new and advanced during 2025, in response to the request of the Undersecretary, expressing his country’s aspiration to open new horizons for cooperation in the field of training and diplomatic development between foreign ministries of both countries’.
As well as, Undersecretary Al Alawi appreciated the efforts of the Chinese Foreign Ministry in organizing these training courses, expressing his aspiration to send a number of the new Iraqi diplomatic staff to learn the Chinese language in China, which would contribute to strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
