Head of Neighboring Countries Department Receives Turkish Ambassador to Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Relations and Regional Issues

The Head of Neighboring Countries Department at the Foreign Ministry, Mr. Mohammad Reza Al-Husseini, received the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Iraq, Mr. Anil Bora Inan, on Monday, January 13, 2025, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Baghdad.

During the meeting both sides reviewed bilateral relations between the two neighboring countries and ways to strengthen them, with attaching special importance on following up on the mechanisms established to implement the agreements and memorandums of understanding signed between the two sides across various areas in a way that fulfil common interests.

Additionally, the two sides discussed the ongoing preparations for holding the Higher Security Committee and the Joint Planning Committee in Baghdad soon, headed by the foreign ministers of the two countries, in addition to the joint political meetings that will be held under the chairmanship of the undersecretaries of the two foreign ministries. As well they touched on the work of other joint committees concerned with water issues and the Development Road.

Within the framework of regional issues, the two sides exchanged views on the developments in Gaza, Lebanon and Syria, stressing the importance of cooperation to avoid what threatens the security and stability of the region.
