Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Receives his Omani Counterpart and Discusses Strengthening Bilateral Relations
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein received the Foreign Minister of the sisterly Sultanate of Oman Mr. Badr Albusaidi and his accompanying delegation, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Baghdad on 21 December 2024.
Minister Fuad Hussein welcomed this visit, and commended the profound historical ties between Iraq and the Sultanate of Oman, in addition he emphasized the importance of enhancing joint cooperation in the economic, commercial, educational and security areas, in order to achieve the aspirations of the two brotherly countries.
On his part the Omani Foreign Minister, affirmed the Sultanate of Oman’s complete openness to strengthening its relations with Iraq, pointing to the importance of activating memorandums of understanding between the two countries, and enhancing cooperation with businessmen and organizing trade fairs to expand the prospects for economic partnership.
As well the two sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations to achieve common interests, with an emphasis on the importance of continued coordination and consultation on issues of common concern.
Additionally both ministers underlined the importance of unifying visions and stances in regional and international forums, and enhancing cooperation between Iraq and the Sultanate of Oman in facing common challenges.
This visit comes as part of the meetings of the Iraqi-Omani Joint Committee, which will start its work tomorrow Sunday, headed by the foreign ministers of the two countries, with the aim of enhancing bilateral cooperation in various political, economic and cultural areas.
