Undersecretary for Bilateral Relations Virtually Participates in Ministerial Council of Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures

Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Bilateral Relations Ambassador Mohammed Hussein Bahr Aloolum, virtually participated in the Seventh Meeting of the Ministerial Council of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), which was held in Baku on the occasion of the handing over of the Chairmanship of the conference to the Republic of Azerbaijan.

During the conference, Ambassador Bahr Aloolum extended his thanks to the Republic of Azerbaijan for organizing the meeting, and congratulated it on assuming the chairmanship of the current term, commending the efforts of the Republic of Kazakhstan during its previous chairmanship of the conference, as well he affirmed the importance of enhancing cooperation between member states to confront regional and international challenges, such as terrorism and organized crime.

The Undersecretary referred to the seventh anniversary of the liberation of Iraq from Da’esh terrorist organization, stressing the need for an effective collective role to enhance regional security and peace, in addition to calling on member states especially the permanent members of the Security Council, to intensify their efforts in maintaining international peace and security.

Additionally, Ambassador Bahr Aloolum, stressed in his speech that Iraq always seeks to enhance constructive dialogue between member states, pointing out that the SICA conference represents an important platform for enhancing regional stability through cooperation in the fields of economic development, combating extremism, and protecting cultural heritage from terrorist threats.
