Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Commends Basra Economic Progress and Leading Role while Accompanying a Delegation of Diplomatic Missions
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein accompanied a delegation of Arab and foreign diplomatic missions in Iraq on a field visit to Basra, in which he affirmed that Basra was and will remain in the forefront, describing it as the “mother of Iraq” that is recovering through its stability and economic renaissance.
The Minister extended his thanks to the people of Basra and its Governor Mr. Asaad Al Eidani, commending the efforts made by the provincial council to achieve development, emphasizing the government’s commitment to supporting Basra in all possible ways, as well expressing his happiness with the great development the city has had especially in terms of modern infrastructure and development projects.
Minister Hussein stated: I congratulate the people of Basra on their Governor Mr. Asaad Al-Eidani, who succeeded in leading the process of rebuilding and reconstruction and strengthening balanced relations with neighboring countries.
On his part Mr. Al-Eidani added that there is a collective determination to make Basra a leading center linking the East and the West and stressed that the city will be the “Jewel of the Arabian Gulf” in the near future.
The delegation toured the developmental projects being implemented in Basra, which reflects the government’s approach to enhancing the city’s position as one of Iraq’s most important economic and strategic centers.
