Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Chairs Sixth Meeting of Preparatory Committee for Arab Summit in Baghdad

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein chaired the the sixth meeting of the committee established under Diwani Order No. 24655, at the Foreign Ministry’s headquarters, on Tuesday, December 3, 2024. 

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning, Mr. Mohammed Tamim, Minister of Finance, Ms. Taif Sami, Minister of Culture, Mr. Ahmed Fakak Al-Badrani, and Mayor of Baghdad, Mr. Ammar Musa, in addition to representatives of the Prime Minister’s office, undersecretaries of ministries, head of Journalists Syndicate, and a number of relevant institutions.

The meeting reviewed the latest developments regarding the ongoing preparations for hosting the 34th Arab Summit in Baghdad, in which the attendees discussed media aspects related to the summit including procedures for media outlets accreditation and providing the necessary capabilities and facilities to perform their duties.

As well as the meeting discussed the obstacles facing the service and security sectors, and ways to address them to ensure their resolution before the summit.

The participants affirmed that holding the Arab Summit in Baghdad reflects Iraq’s major role in establishing peace and stability, and highlights its position as a platform for enhancing joint Arab cooperation.
