Ambassadors Conference Concludes in Baghdad Under Auspices of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister
Under the auspices of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein the 8th Ambassadors Conference concluded on 26 November 2024, which was held in conjunction with the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Iraqi Foreign Ministry, under the slogan: “Towards an effective diplomacy with multiple tracks in a changing world.
The conference in which the Ministry’s undersecretaries and heads of diplomatic missions and departments participated in, discussed the most prominent regional and international challenges and issues, and issued the final statement and recommendations aimed at enhancing Iraqi diplomatic performance, in a way that achieves the country’s interests and in line with global developments. Among the most prominent points in the statement are: reaffirming Iraq’s rejection of the Israeli entity’s aggression against Gaza and Lebanon and its commitment to the approach of rationality and balance in foreign policy, in accordance with the constitution, strengthening cooperation with neighboring countries, preparing for Iraq’s presidency of the G77 and China in 2025, and organizing the upcoming Arab Summit in Baghdad.
The last day of the conference started with a session devoted for administrative and technical affairs and was moderated by the Undersecretary of the Ministry, Dr. Ahmed Nayef, who gave a presentation on administrative aspects, as the head of the Administrative Department Mr. Hussein Al-Safi, also gave a review of the department’s work, and answered the attendees’ inquiries and suggestions.
In the same context, the head of the Finance Department Mr. Adnan Azzara, reviewed the financial problems facing diplomatic missions, while the head of Communication & IT Department Department Mr. Osama Al-Nashe’ gave a presentation on the department’s work. As well as the head of the Protocol Department, Mr. Ammar Daoud also addressed the obstacles facing embassies and missions.
This was followed by a session on political planning affairs, moderated by the Undersecretary for Political Planning Dr. Hisham Al-Alawi, who gave an explanation of the nature of the departments’ work, in this regard, the Dean of the Foreign Service Institute Ambassador Basem Hattab, the head of the Political Planning Department Mr. Haider Sultan, and the head of the Media Department Dr. Fuad Ghazi reviewed the work and the achievements made during their tenure.
The conference concluded with a session on multilateral and legal affairs, moderated by the Ministry’s Undersecretary Omer Al Barzanji, where the Assistant head of the Legal Department Mr. Mawloud Ahmed, discussed the most important tasks and work of the Legal Department.
