Foreign Ministry Celebrates 100 Years of its Establishment Under the Slogan “Iraqi Diplomacy.. A Century of Challenges and Achievements” 


Under the slogan “Iraqi Diplomacy.. A Century of Challenges and Achievements” the Iraqi Foreign Ministry celebrates 100 years of its establishment recalling its long journey, on Sunday 24 November 2024.

On the eve of the celebration Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein affirmed that the Ministry played a pivotal role in restoring Iraq to its natural position as a key player in the international community, indicating the Iraqi diplomacy success in expanding the country’s international relations despite the difficult security and political conditions that the country has experienced over the past decades.

Minister Hussein added: “This occasion presents an opportunity to honor the diplomatic endeavors that have contributed to strengthening Iraq’s position and efforts of peace and stability, as well as its role in consolidating relations with brotherly and friendly countries, emphasizing the Ministry’s commitment to continue working to achieve Iraq’s aspirations for a more stable and prosperous future.”

The Foreign Ministry was established on November 24, 1924, based on a proposal submitted by the Prime Minister at that time Yasin Al-Hashimi, and the Council of Ministers approved the proposal and ratified the Royal Decree No 753. The Prime Minister himself was assigned the duties of the ministry at the beginning of its establishment.
