Chargé d’affaires of Iraqi Embassy in Damascus Meets Syria’s Vice President

The Chargé d’Affaires of the Republic of Iraq in Damascus Mr. Yassin Sharif Al Hajimi, met with the Vice President of the Syrian Arab Republic, Dr. Faisal Al Miqdad, at his office in Damascus.

The Chargé d’affaires conveyed the Iraqi Government congratulations to Dr. Al Miqdad on the occasion of assuming office, extending Iraq’s thanks to Syria for its efforts in facilitating the return of expatriates from Lebanon.

The meeting discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations between the two countries and activate joint economic cooperation. On his part, the Vice president expressed his appreciation for Iraq’s stance and role in receiving families coming from Lebanon, in addition to the campaigns to donate food, humanitarian and medical supplies that arrived in Syria to support Lebanese expatriates. He also praised the efforts of the government of the Prime Minister Mr. Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani, in this regard.

Mr. Al Miqdad emphasized the importance of enhancing bilateral cooperation, stressing the need to activate joint committees, especially economic ones, and activate the signed memorandums of understanding. The two sides also agreed on the revitalization of the Iraqi-Syrian Joint Committee and enhance trade exchange to serve the interests of the two countries.
