Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Discusses Strengthening Cooperation with Croatian Prime Minister
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein met with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia Mr. Andrej Plenković, on Monday October 21, 2024. The meeting was attended by Croatian Foreign Minister and the Croatian Ambassador to Iraq.
The meeting was devoted to discuss paths of cooperation and partnership between the two countries, in a way that enhances their efforts to achieve sustainable economic development and prosperity.
Additionally both sides discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in the sectors of economy, investment, and energy, with a focus on the oil and gas sector, in addition to emphasizing the importance of expanding cooperation in crucial areas of common concern.
The Minister pointed out the need to enhance cooperation between the two countries in the field of combating terrorism, as well as he reviewed the outcomes of his European tour. The meeting addressed coordination on consolidating positions regarding the war in Gaza and Lebanon. The Minister stressed that the continued war in Gaza and Lebanon could lead to the outbreak of new conflicts in other regions, stressing that the only way to prevent this is to increase pressure on the Israeli entity to cease fire.
On his part the Croatian Prime Minister offered his congratulations on the occasion of the opening of the Iraqi Embassy in Croatia, stressing the importance of its presence in deepening relations between the two countries at various levels, he also stressed the need to develop bilateral cooperation in the military, security and economic fields, noting that Iraq represents an important opportunity for development and investment, especially in the energy, oil and gas sectors.
At the end of the meeting the Minister expressed his happiness to visit the friendly Republic of Croatia, affirming the strength of relations between the two countries and their common keenness to enhance them, to serve their development goals and contribute to achieving the interests of their peoples.
