Head of International Organizations and Conferences Department Meets UNRWA Representatives in Amman
A delegation led by the Head of International Organizations and Conferences Department Dr. Fadel Alrahim, held a meeting in Amman on October 7, 2024 with representatives of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), to discuss ways to enhance Iraqi support for the agency, which oversees relief for more than five million Palestinian refugees in Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, Syria, and Jordan.
The meeting discussed enhancing cooperation with UNRWA and ways to provide political and humanitarian support that would enable the agency to meet the urgent humanitarian needs of Palestinian refugees.
As part of the delegation’s visit to Amman, UNRWA organized a field tour in one of the Palestinian refugee camps, which included a visit to a number of schools, health centers, and shelters run by the agency, with the aim of reviewing the health, educational, and social services provided to refugees.
This meeting comes in light of the continued repeated Israeli attacks on the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank, and in the context of the political and humanitarian support of the Iraqi government to provide relief to the Palestinian people.
