Iraq’s Ambassador in Brussels Meets Middle East and North Africa Program Director of at International Crisis Group

Ambassador Ahmed Tahseen Berwari received in his office at the embassy, Mr. Joost Hiltermann, Middle East and North Africa Program Director at the International Crisis Group, who leads the organization’s research and analysis, in and about the region.

During the meeting, Ambassador Berwari discussed the pivotal role played by Iraq in the region, and its initiatives aimed at bringing the views of the countries of the region closer together, in addition to enhancing cooperation with partners to advance the economy and development, as this has a direct impact on achieving regional stability.

The two parties also exchanged views on the situations in Gaza, Lebanon and the Middle East in general, in addition to discussing the efforts of the Iraqi government to return the displaced and integrate them into society, and the future strategic projects that Iraq is working on in cooperation with the countries of the region, including the Development Road project.

At the end of the meeting, the two sides agreed to continue consultation and coordination on future regional developments and issues of common concern.
