Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Discusses Enhancing Security and Military Cooperation with NATO
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Dr. Fuad Hussein met with NATO’s Assistant Secretary General for Operations Mr. Tom Goffus, on the sidelines of the Ministerial Meeting of the Global Coalition to Defeat Da’esh, held in Washington, on Monday, September 30, 2024.
The meeting discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation between Iraq and NATO including providing training and exchange of visits between the two sides. They also discussed developing new security plans in cooperation with Iraq’s international partners to enhance military and security cooperation. The two sides also underlined the importance of continuing the work of the NATO mission in Iraq with full respect for the country’s sovereignty, and commended the ongoing cooperation, especially with the Iraqi National Security Advisory.
On his part Mr. Goffus, extended his thanks to the Iraqi government for its efforts in protecting diplomatic premises and UN missions.
