Deputy Prime Minister Fuad Hussein Meets his Turkmen Counterpart to Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Relations

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein met with Mr. Rashid Meredov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on the sidelines of the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, on Friday, September 27, 2024.

The two sides discussed bilateral relations between Iraq and Turkmenistan, with a focus on looking forward to a promising future and laying a solid foundation for these relations, especially in the areas of exchanging bilateral visits. The two sides stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation in the fields of energy and exchanging experiences, referring to the delegation of political consultations that recently visited the capital, Ashgabat, where they discussed ways to establish diplomatic and economic relations between the two countries.

They also touched on strengthening economic relations and trade exchange, especially in the field of gas. At the end of the meeting, an invitation was extended to the competent ministries in the fields of economics to visit Ashgabat, to start a promising era of relations between the two countries.
