Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein Meets his Venezuelan Counterpart to Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Relations and Cooperation in Oil and Gas
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein met with the Venezuelan Foreign Minister Mr. Yvan Gil Pinto on the sidelines of the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, on Friday, September 27, 2024.
The meeting highlighted the bilateral relations between Iraq and Venezuela, and the importance of strengthening them after 75 years of their establishment. They also touched on the commonalities in the fields of oil production and gas reserves, stressing the need for continuous coordination in these important areas.
They also discussed international issues of common concern, chief among them the Palestinian issue. Minister Hussein thanked Venezuela for its honorable and supportive stances towards the Palestinian cause.
Within the framework of enhancing bilateral relations, they discussed opportunities for developing cooperation in the fields of agriculture and oil expertise. As well the two Ministers attached importance on exchanging expertise in utilizing associated gas and enhancing cooperation in this field.
It was also emphasized to follow up on the work of the joint committee between the two countries, activate the signed memorandums of understanding, and proceed with the signing procedures of the MOUs that are still in progress.
At the end of the meeting Minister Fuad Hussein extended an invitation to his Venezuelan counterpart to visit Baghdad, to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
