Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Meets his Syrian Counterpart to Discuss Bilateral Relations and Regional Developments

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein met with Syrian Foreign Minister Bassam Al Sabbagh on the sidelines of the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, on Wednesday, September 25, 2024.

During the meeting, the two sides highlighted the bilateral ties between Iraq and Syria, stressing the importance of enhancing joint cooperation between the two countries. They also reviewed the latest developments in the region and the seriousness of the threat they pose to the security of both Iraq and Syria, affirming the necessity of coordinating Arab stances to address the increasing escalation in the region.

Minister Al Sabbagh, commended Iraq’s supporting initiatives in the region, both with regard to Gaza and Lebanon, expressing his appreciation for Iraq’s consistent positions in standing by Arab countries in difficult times.
