Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Meets Latvian Foreign Minister to Discuss Bilateral Relations and Security Developments in Middle East
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia Ms. Baiba Braže on the sidelines of the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, on Wednesday, September 25, 2024. During the meeting, they reviewed the bilateral relations which extends for more than twenty years between the two countries, with a focus on ways to enhance these relations in various fields. The two sides also discussed the recent security developments in the Middle East region, especially the increasing escalation and its impact on international peace and security.
The two Ministers exchanged views on coordination mechanisms to de-escalate and prevent the expansion of the conflict. The two sides expressed their deep concern over the start of a new wave of displacement in the region, which further complicates the scene and adds new burdens to the deteriorating humanitarian situation.
Meanwhile, the two sides touched on areas of bilateral cooperation, especially the exchange of expertise in the field of security and technology, digital transformation and automation of government work.
On her side, Minister Braže extended an invitation to His Excellency Minister Hussein to visit Latvia and His Excellency the Minister promised to honor this invitation in the near future.
