Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Discusses Bilateral Relations and Security Challenges with Dutch Foreign Minister
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands Mr. Caspar Veldkamp, on the sidelines of the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, on Wednesday, September 25, 2024.
The two Ministers highlighted the bilateral ties between Iraq and the Netherlands, especially those related to cooperation within the framework of the United Nations. Additionally, they touched on the challenges facing international peace and security, in particular the Middle East, including the recent escalation in Lebanon and the continued aggression on Gaza.
In another context the two Ministers touched on the future of dealing with perpetrators of terrorist crimes in Iraq, with an emphasis on the need to ensure handing them over to justice. The two sides also discussed the major challenges facing societies after the elimination of Da’esh, especially with regard to the children of Da’esh fighters, in addition to cooperation on the issue of kidnapped women and taking the necessary actions to return them, and providing assistance in rehabilitation and psychological support.
