Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Discusses Strengthening Bilateral Relations with his Rwandan Counterpart

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein met with Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Rwanda Mr. Olivier Nduhungirehe, on the sidelines of the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, on Tuesday, September 24, 2024.

The two sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations between Iraq and Rwanda, where Minister Hussein expressed Iraq’s interest in opening to African countries and developing relations with them, as well as they affirmed the importance of exchanging experiences and expertise in dealing with internal conflicts and post-conflict societies, which contributes to creating ideal models of coexistence and enhancing opportunities for building and maintaining internal peace. Additionally they agreed to take the necessary steps to start diplomatic relations between both countries in the near future, including signing an agreement to establish diplomatic relations and exchange diplomatic representation on the level of resident representation.

The meeting also discussed the available opportunities for economic and trade cooperation between Iraq and Rwanda, and ways to coordinate positions in international forums.
