Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Meets his Lebanese Counterpart to Discuss Security Developments in Lebanon

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein met with his Lebanese counterpart Mr. Abdallah Bou Habib on the sidelines of the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, on Sunday, September 22, 2024. The meeting reviewed the latest security developments in Lebanon, in which Minister Hussein stressed Iraq’s keenness to support Lebanon’s sovereignty and maintain its security, affirming Iraq’s readiness to provide assistance to those affected by the recent attacks.

They also emphasized the necessity of Arab and international action to support Lebanon and stop the escalation in the region, by the gravity of the threats posed by the recent attacks to peace and security in the region in general.

On his part, Minister Bou Habib thanked Iraq for its supportive stances towards the government and people of Lebanon in terms of political support and medical and humanitarian aid provided by Iraq.
